The valleys in Tyrol

Fügen - based in one hotel

On flat ways through Tyrol.

Majestic are the famous Tyrolean mountains. The Zillertal Alps, the Karwendelgebirge mountains, the Kitzbühel Alps, and the Nordkette mountain chain form a spectacular scenery for your tour.  And in spite of the up to 3,500 m high mountains, you will ride your bike through the Tyrolean valleys on mostly flat roads. The Zillertal valley and the Inntal valley offer excellent routes for easy cycling. You will get unforgettable impressions of the country between Innsbruck and Kufstein. Friendly people, beautiful small towns that line up like pearls on a chain at the river Inn, lakes for swimming, and a great mountain scenery. Moreover, there are many other points of interest along the way: the Olympic city of Innsbruck, the Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Austria’s smallest town Rattenberg, the silver mines in Schwaz, and a large number of different castles.

Itinerary

Information on the tour and bike fitting.

The Zillertal bicycle path is nearby and leads you directly to Mayrhofen, slightly ascending (2%) at the end of the valley. Take the cable car up into the Zillertal glacier world or visit the “Erlebnissennerei Zillertal”, a typical Zillertal alpine dairy. Old connecting roads lead back – and, of course, slightly downhill – to the hotel.

Bike Tour Fehnroute

Quickly you will have reached the Inn cycle path (Innradweg). It will lead you to Kramsach and slightly uphill to Lake Krummsee and Lake Reintalersee (Tyrolean farm museum). Rattenberg, the oldest and smallest town in Austria invites you to stay a while to admire the magnificent town and enjoy yourself in one of the many cafés and restaurants.

Today, you will cycle approx. 50 km on the Inn cycle path to Innsbruck. We recommend visiting the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens and the old salt town of Hall in Tirol with its famous Münzturm tower. And of course you should spend some time in Innsbruck with its charming old town (Golden Roof, City Tower, Helbing House, Hofburg, Imperial Church), the Hungerburg panorama terrace, and the modern ski jump (with a café in the tower). At the end of your trip you will take the train back into the Zillertal valley.

Although there are still many more opportunities for cycling, on the fifth day you can take a rest. Enjoy the amenities of your hotel, hike up to an alpine mountain pasture, or choose any other of the many possibilities for an excursion in the surrounding area.

After taking a good day’s rest, you will be ready to get on the Inn cycle path again to cycle to the west. But this time you will use different ways than before. In Schwaz you can visit the silver mine, in Stans you can hike through the Wolfsklamm gorge and on the way back you can make a stop at the Tratzberg castle.

It is hard to believe – Today is your last cycling day. Today’s route will lead you along the river Inn to Kufstein, the “pearl” on the river Inn. The fort with its Heldenorgel organ and the Planetarium are worth a visit. On the way there, we recommend stopping at the Kundler Klamm gorge. Later, the train will take you back to Jenbach, from where you can cycle back to the hotel on the Zillertal cycle path.

It is time to say goodbye, even if it might be hard for you to leave. However, you are always welcome to come back for another stay!
