Today you follow the Burgenstraße cycle path again, passing the moated castle in Lichtenau, and reaching Roth. Visit Rati bor castle before you follow the Main-Danube Canal to Nuremberg. The castle, which has accommodated
numerous emperors and kings, overlooks the imperial city majesti cally.
Nuremberg – Forchheim - Rabenstein castle
approx. 50 km + train ride (not incl.) or approx. 95 kmIf you want to take some more ti me wandering through Nuremberg in the morning, we recommend shortening today's stage with a train ride to Forchheim. If you prefer cycling to Forchheim, today's stage will be quite demanding. Again you follow the Burgenstraße cycle path, which leads
you to today's desti nati on, Rabenstein castle. There are quite some inclines and descents today. But it is worth the eff ort! Beauti ful landscapes and numerous castles along the way makes today's stage very diversifi ed. An impressive building welcomes you at today's desti nati on: Rabenstein
castle.
Just a few kilometres aft er your start you will reach a recordbreaking
town: Aufseß. You think that it's just a small town but it has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records. You are now in the town with the most breweries per resident! Before you conti nue today's bike tour to Bamberg,
you should take a break here and try some of the beer.
Sightseeing in Bamberg
In Bamberg there are numerous sights that shouldn't be missed. Visit the imperial cathedral and wander through the beauti ful old town with its town hall, being located on an arti fi cial island in the middle of the Regnitz river. A guided
tour through one of the many local breweries is also very interesti ng, as well as visiti ng the brewery museum.
The first part of today’s stage leads you then primal a part along yesterday’s tour course. Until Hirschhaid the route can be shortened by train (not included). After Hirschhaid you follow the valley of stream Aisch to Neustadt.
Your last day on the bike leads you to Bad Windsheim, where you find next to a beautiful old city the Franconian open air museum. On a spacious area historic buildings have been rebuilt. In the local tavern you can taste home-brewed beer, before you continue your tour. Back in Rothenburg your tour comes to an end in medieval setting. You should not miss a vespertine city tour with night watchman!
After breakfast your beer tour is completed, if wished you can book extra nights
