Bonn is awaiting you with lots of places of interest.
Enjoy the views to mountains Siebengebirge and cycle along romantic river Rhine which inspired already numerous painters and poets. You should plan a stop in the city of Königswinter (beautiful promenade) and at Germany’s oldest cog railway which leads you up to the top of mountain Drachenfels.
You start into the valley of Ahrtal where the river flows into the Rhine. Pass the well-known Apollinaris spring before you reach the health resort of Bad Neuenahr. A visit of medieval city Ahrweiler with its still intact city wall is worth it. You cycle through small villages which are famous for its numerous wine festivals to Altenahr and surroundings.
Your tour leads you slightly uphill into the region of Nordeifel. Enjoy your ride on disused railway tracks and through forests. We recommend making a detour into the nature park of valley Lemperstal – it is a highlight along the river Ahr bike path.
After a short stage you cycle downhill to the spring of river Erft which is located in Holzmülheim. You continue along the river to Bad Münstereifel where the medieval city centre awaits you with numerous museums and cafes. Along a few water mills you continue to Euskirchen where you stay overnight.
25 water palaces are awaiting you today; most of them are in a quite good condition! In Brühl you can visit the castle Augustusburg and the Mas-Ernst-Museum. Your destination for today will be Bonn.
There is one stage to the spring of river Ehr; apart from that the route is flat. You cycle upstream along river Ahr, but there are no noteworthy altitudes in difference (300 metres along 40 km). You cycle on asphalted roads, country roads and side roads with less traffic.
