Marburg - Koblenz

Marburg - Coblenz

The river Lahn is your companion on this tour: The river sidle through spacious valley, flow between rock and cliffs of the "Taunus" and the "Westerwald". Romantic half-timbered houses are along the riverside and invite to a stroll through alleys and rustic pub. Magnificent castle and fortress tower up the river like a guard post. The “Brother Grimm” had studied in Marburg, which is laying on your way. Enjoy the fascinating Lahn bike path!

Itinerary

Visit the historic old town and Elisabeth church. Your rental bicycle is ready for you at the hotel.

Today´s stage leads you past Weimar - at the beautiful "Weimarer Sea". You cycle further on through the impressive landscape. Aim of the tour is the traditional university city Giessen.

The first highlight of the tour is the romantic historical city Wetzlar. Past the former monastery "Altenberg" the tour goes on to the so-called "Märchenwald" (myth forest) of Biskirchen to the ruin "Löhnberg.  Take in the beautiful surroundings to Weilburg, where the renaissance castle stands in solitary spendour on a high rock above river Lahn.

Wedged in between the heights of Taunis and Westerwald the river winds its way. You cycle on the asphalted Lein Path via Aumenau and Runkel to Limburg with famous dome.

Today you cross the unsoilt valley from Diez to Balduinstein, one of the most scenic parts of the tour. Two climbs can be avoided by using the train (11 km). Have a break at monastery Arnstein at fortress Nassau or in historic Inn on Lahn before you reach Bad Ems.

The cycle tour leads to the picturesque village to the estuary of the Lahn. There is the village "Lahnstein" with the two medieval castles. The aim is the banks of the rhine in Coblenz, where is enough time to explore the city centre.

After breakfast starts the return journey or the additional stay.

The route

Most part of the non-stop signposted Lahn bike path goes on street with light traffic. Except for a 7 km long stage from Limburg to Bad Ems with heavy traffic.

Gemütlich Tour in der Mitte von Deutschland
Es war eine Fahrt durch eine grüne Landschaft immer am Fluß entlang. Fazit, es war geruhsam.

Sehr angenehme Tour mit geringen Anforderungen
Top-Hotel in Marburg!
