You cycle on former railway line
Travel to Maastricht under your own steam. After the welcome, visit places like the market with the historic city hall and the Vrijthof with its nice restaurants and cafés.
After the start in Maastricht we will go to Belgium today. You cycle to Raeren Castle with its pottery museum. Your destination is Eupen with its magnificent town houses and many historic squares.
You come to the nature reserve Hohes Venn-Eifel. From Kalterherberg your route follows the Vennbahn cycle path. It takes you to the old railway station of Sourbrodt, the Montenauer ham smoky and Sankt Vith.
Today you reach Burg-Reuland, one of the most beautiful castle ruins in Belgium, as well as the Luxembourg municipality of Troisvierges. Then continue by train or bike through beautiful countryside with some ascents to Clervaux.
Today, the main attraction is the charming nature, which, however, also has some climbs in store. You cycle through the Our valley in the High Fens Eifel Nature Park and on romantic paths to Butgenbach in Belgium.
You are following a leisurely route today. Relax, cycle over the Vennbahn to Aachen. Take a break along the way to visit a terrace in the picturesque Eifel towns of Monschau and Kornelimünster. The last 30 km to Aachen is “uphill” and you still have enough energy to admire the historic city of Charlemagne.
From Aachen the route leads back to the Netherlands, from Lemiers on the long-distance cycle path LF 13 through the picturesque countryside of Limburg back to Maastricht or s´Gravenvoeren (B).

You cycle most of the time on a former railway line, which has now been converted into a cycle path. Very good cycle paths and roads.
