Itinerary

Boarding and check-in take place at 2:00 p.m. Your crew will be waiting there to welcome you aboard. At 2:30 p.m., the ship departs from Amsterdam and sets course for Utrecht, a charming city. From there, you’ll enjoy a picturesque first cruise through the Utrecht area.

During breakfast, the ship will sail to Vreeswijk, the starting point of your bike tour. Cycle along winding rivers, through picturesque villages, and past historic locks, and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings and the quintessentially Dutch landscape. Later in the day, on your bike tour through the Alblasserwaard region, you’ll reach Kinderdijk, a village famous for its impressive row of 19 large windmills. All 19 windmills are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are an absolute highlight you’ll have the opportunity to tour one of them, so don’t forget your camera! From nearby Alblasserdam, take the “Waterbus,” a high-speed ferry that will take you and your bike to Dordrecht one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands in about 10 minutes.

While you enjoy breakfast on board, the ship sails to Willemstad, where today’s bike tour begins. Willemstad is a beautiful, historic fortified town on the Haringvliet. Your bike tour takes you to Tholen, once an island in the midst of Zeeland’s major rivers, where many people made their living from fishing. Today, Tholen is connected to the mainland by various routes.
You’ll then cycle on to the destination of your journey, Bergen op Zoom. Bergen op Zoom is a historic fortified town that once stood on the open waters of the Oosterschelde. After dinner, you can take a stroll through the old town. Narrow alleys, the old town, market squares, and church squares, as well as the unique, historic buildings, bear witness to a rich and eventful past dating back more than eight hundred years.

In the morning, you’ll take a short bike ride through the beautiful “Wouwse Plantage” around Bergen op Zoom. In the early afternoon, you’ll return to the ship, which will take you to the port city of Antwerp on the Scheldt River. Antwerp is known for handling up to 80% of the world’s rough diamonds and offers numerous sights, including City Hall one of the city’s magnificent Renaissance buildings the historic Grote Markt, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Hermit, and the medieval Steen Castle. Dinner (not included in the price) will take place tonight at a restaurant of your choice in the city.

This morning, you’ll cycle from Antwerp along a picturesque stretch of the Scheldt to St. Amands, where you’ll spend the night. The landscape along the Scheldt can be described in just one word: “magnificent.” It is undoubtedly one of the scenic highlights of the tour.

Today, you’ll continue your journey along the Scheldt to Ghent, where the ship will dock for the night at a lock in a suburb. Ghent is a vibrant university town with a rich history. Since Roman times, Ghent’s location at the confluence of the Leie and Scheldt rivers has made it a thriving commercial port. In total, the city is home to an opera house, 18 museums, over 100 churches, and more than 400 historic buildings. Among the main attractions are St. Bavo’s Cathedral, which houses numerous masterpieces of medieval art, including Jan van Eyck’s world-famous “Adoration of the Lamb of God,” and the 91-meter-high Ghent Belfry, one of three medieval towers that tower over the Old Town. Before dinner, you’ll take a guided tour on a small canal boat through the historic Old Town.

Today you’ll cycle from Ghent through the picturesque countryside of West Flanders to Bruges, often referred to as the “Venice of the North” and arguably the most beautiful of all Flemish cities. Bruges attracts over two million visitors annually who come to admire the idyllic medieval old town—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and its numerous historic landmarks. As an outstanding example of a medieval settlement, Bruges has managed to preserve its historic cityscape over the centuries, so that the original Gothic buildings now form an essential part of the city’s identity. Take advantage of your stay to visit one of Bruges’ many museums or simply enjoy the breathtaking beauty and culture of this unforgettable city from the comfort of a cozy street café.
