Bike Tour Elbe-Radweg

Elbe bike path | Stroll tour

Enjoy the short distance bike tours

In 9 days from Dresden to Wittenberg

Some of Germany's most charming river landscapes stretch along the Elbe. Floodplain forests, wide meadows, and quiet tributaries characterize the landscape. Follow the river through this idyllic natural setting from Magdeburg to the North Sea. Embedded in the landscape are impressive examples of human architecture: the medieval Tangermünde Castle, the palace in Lauenburg, and numerous half-timbered and brick buildings. Hamburg is considered the gateway to the world, and in Cuxhaven, the Elbe finally flows into the North Sea – a fitting end to an impressive journey.

Explore the world famous beauties and the magic of Dresden with the unique sights like “Zwinger Palace”, “Dresdner Frauenkirche” (Church of Lady) and the wonderful opera house (Semperoper).

The bicycle path leads directly along the Elbe to Bad Schandau, to the Albrecht Castles and the Elbe pastures; on the Elbe Ferry to Castle Pillnitz. Further on the path go to the Sandsteintafel Mountain with the fortress Königstein on the right side of the Elbe. Return to Dresden by bike or by a suburban train.

Today's cycle tour takes you through the romantic Elbe valley along the Saxon vineyards past the town of Radebeul, which is closely associated with the name Karl May. You soon reach the town of Meissen, world-famous for its porcelain. The picturesque alleyways of the historically grown town centre are ideal for strolling and shopping. Albrechtsburg Castle and the world-famous Meissen porcelain factory are also well worth a visit.

In the Elbe town, Mühlberg you can see its former Cistercian monastery. Worth seeing as well is the Electoral Saxony’s milepost. You should not miss the Treblitz Tree Park with trees and bushes from five continents.

The cycle path leads along the banks of the river Elbe to Torgau, with the residential castle “Hartenfels”, the renaissance townhall and late gothic St. Marien church. Overnight in Torgau.
