Bodensee Obersee Deluxe

The essentials at a glance

Cycle around Lake Constance through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on mostly flat, well-marked paths. Visit medieval Constance, the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, Lindau's island old town, and Bregenz festival stage. Includes boat trip from Wallhausen to Überlingen. 5 nights accommodation with breakfast, luggage transport, and digital navigation.

Three beautiful countries. One beautiful lake.

This tour takes you around the Obersee. It is the larger of the two lakes that together form Lake Constance. During your day trips, you will often have the opportunity to swim in the lake. You start in Constance, travel through Germany, Austria and Switzerland and enjoy the international flair of the region. There are many sights along the way, such as the Bavarian town of Lindau, the lake stage in Bregenz and the largest Lake Constance harbour in Switzerland. On this cycle tour, which is also ideal for families with children, you decide individually which attractions you would like to visit. You have time for almost all of them.

Itinerary

You start your journey in Constance, the largest city on Lake Constance, which still has a medieval feel to it today. In 1414, it was the scene of the only church council north of the Alps. A small museum commemorates the Czech reformer Jan Hus, who was burned to death here. The town's landmark is the statue of Imperia, a monument to the prostitutes of the time of the Council. The aquariums at the Sea Life Centre and the National Archaeological Museum are also highly recommended.

You cycle to Wallhausen before a boat takes you to the old imperial city of Überlingen. Worth seeing here are the Gothic cathedral and the famous lakeside promenade. Your destination is Friedrichshafen with its Zeppelin Museum.

You cycle through extensive orchards, first through Langenargen, where you can visit the Moorish-style Montfort Castle. You reach the Bavarian town of Lindau with its listed old town centre on an island.

After a short tour, you will reach Bregenz. The capital of Vorarlberg in Austria is famous for its festival on the world's largest lake stage. The route continues via Höchst to Rorschach, Horn or Arbon.

The last day of your tour takes you through Romanshorn with the largest Lake Constance harbour in Switzerland back to Constance. The route is flat and mostly easy to master. Bathing spots invite you to refresh yourself time and again. Round off your trip with a stroll through the old town or along the harbour.

After breakfast, individual return journey or start of your extension.

Note: When booking with your own bikes, any stage destination is possible as a start/finish.
