In 4 days from Hann. Münden to Hameln

A truly fairytale tour! Even if the name does not necessarily suggest it at first - whoever deals with the German legend world will sooner or later encounter the Pied Piper of Hamelin. With this 4-day short trip, Rückenwind Reisen has dedicated a tour along the Weser to the famous figure. Enjoy with us the untouched nature, the historic towns and the enjoyable culinary delights!

The Pied Piper Tour in a nutshell

Swing into the saddle - off you go! The starting point of your tour is the picturesque Hann. Münden with numerous half-timbered houses and a special idyll on the three rivers Fulda, Werra and Weser. On the first stage you will cross Hemeln and pass the imposing Bursfelde Monastery. Bad Karlshafen is not only waiting with lots of culture and history. The Weser thermal baths in southern French style provide ultimate relaxation.

On day 3, there are plenty of highlights to "cycle through" - on the way to Holzminden or Bodenwerder, you will first pass Fürstenberg Castle. The pretty townscape of Höxter invites you to park your bike for a short time and enjoy a walk through the alleys. For the finale of the tour, you are guaranteed to encounter one or the other fairy tale character. Toast the past four days of the tour in the pretty old town of Hamelin and memorize the special impressions for your return to everyday life.

Regional treasures along the route

Are you looking for nice souvenirs for the ones at home? Then why not take along one of the extraordinary pieces from the widely known Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory. Or perhaps you will enjoy a scented or aromatic oil from Holzminden. A historical speciality is the castle complex of Corvey and of course the countless characteristic buildings of the Weser Renaissance.

Three facts about your trip

  • Culinary delights: Be sure to plan plenty of stops for refreshments on your tour along the Weser Cycle Path. Already Hann. Münden attracts with special culinary delights. Try the beer at the Ratsbrauhaus and stop by the "European Champion of Sausages".
  • Experience fairy tale characters: While the Liar Baron Münchhausen came from Bodenwerder, Hamelin was home to the Pied Piper. Would you have known that these were figures of world fame? According to estimates, the legend of the Pied Piper has been translated into 30 languages and around a billion people have already been able to listen to it.
  • Recharge your batteries: Sometimes it only takes a few days to come down to earth in the proverbial sense and recharge your batteries. That's exactly what our short trips are for, which are also wonderfully suited for a long weekend. Our detailed planning allows you an active trip without stress and hectic. You only have to arrive and depart, we take care of the route, the accommodations, the transfers and, if desired, the bicycles.

Itinerary

Your personal tour information and handing over of the bicycles (if booked) is in the evening. A first tour by bicycle you can undertake to the old town of Hann. Münden. We recommend a little stroll through the medieval centre of Hann. Münden with the historic half timbered houses of the Weser Renaissance is very interesting. You will love the splendid old houses.

Start of the bicycle tour on the Weser Rock, exactly where Werra and Fulda embrace each other. You cycle via Reinhardshagen and past the ancient Benedictine monastery Bursfelde to the baroque Huguenot's town Bad Karlshafen. The centre of Bad Karlshafen with its lovely reconstructed baroque houses presents an interesting diversion to the otherwise usual half-timbered houses. (approx. 46 - 55 km)

A number of highlights can be encountered along the route: the town Fürstenberg with a renowned porcelain manufacture, the old hanseatic town Höxter with more than 160 mostly half timbered buildings under monuments-protection. The little town Beverungen retained a lot of its historical face. Holzminden is well known for the production of aroma-essences and perfume-oils. (approx. 37 - 55 km)

Many an idyllic village on the road invites you to stay. The little town Bodenwerder got certain fame for being the home of the so called "Lying Baron" of Münchhausen. The famous town of the "Rat Catcher from Hameln" has an intact old town with marvellous half-timbered houses and buildings in the typical style of the Weser Renaissance, dating back to the 16th and 17th century. Individual departure. (approx. 55 km)

The route

The Weser Cycle Path follows mainly side roads with only scarce traffic as well as dedicated asphalted cycle paths and country roads. Only few differences in altitude have to be managed, therefore this cycle path is highly recommended for beginners or families with children.

1. Radwanderung in mehreren Etappen
