For cyclists, there is a “single experience on pedals” with an interesting route along the “Maas. ” The new “Three-Country Cycle Tour” takes you from the Dutch province of Limburg via Belgium to the North of France. In addition to the already known and popular cycle routes, e. g. on the Danube, Rhine and Loire, cyclists can now also embark on a delightful journey of discovery along the Meuse. The new cycle route starts in the Dutch city of Maastricht and ends in the French city of Sedan. Daily routes (30 – 65 km) run on popular supra-regional cycle routes (e. g. RAVeL 1 and 2/Belgium; “Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes”/France). The tour offers cyclists unique nature, wonderful landscapes, picturesque towns and villages as well as impressive industrial monuments. One of the highlights of this bike tour is certainly the former Treidelweg along the Meuse in the far north of France. This section of the route is part of the “Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes”, which was voted the “Distance Cycle Route of the Year” in 2010. In short: On this tour along the Meuse through 3 countries, cyclists “experience” a contrasting route with magnificent, bike-friendly routes and international flair

Itinerary

Individual journey to Maastricht (NL) or 's Gravenvoeren (B).

efore you start your short stage to Liège, we recommend a stroll through the garden of the estate, which is well worth seeing. Here the Cramignon ferry crosses to the Walloon village of Lanaye in the French-speaking part of Belgium. Now follow the RAVeL1 via Visé to the Belgian metropolis of Liège. Once in Liège, take a stroll through the city centre and marvel at the historical heritage and sights of this major Belgian city.

In the morning your bike tour starts from Liège to Namur. First of all, you will pass through the industrial outskirts of Liège with its impressive industrial monuments. A detour to the crystal factory 'Val Saint Lambert' in Seraing is recommended; a 'must' on this day! You continue cycling along a varied route through the glacial valley of the Meuse. A lunch break in the cosy little town of Huy is well worthwhile. The route continues directly along the banks of the Meuse to Namur.

In the morning, guided tour of the city centre of Namur. Today's stage runs from Namur to Dinant directly along the banks of the Meuse. You will follow the RAVeL2 through an interesting river landscape. Today it is worth taking a detour to the unique landscape gardens in Annevoie. Your destination for the day is the lively tourist town of Dinant, which awaits you for a stroll through the city.

On the route from Dinant to 'La douce France', you cycle partly on the well paved cycle path along the banks of the Meuse and then on an old railway line that has been converted into a cycle path. On the way you have the opportunity to visit the castle 'Freyr' (the 'Versailles of the North'). From Givet (lunch break!) the cycle tour leads through France on the 'Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes'. Enjoy the ride through the French Maas Valley!

In September 2015, the new extension of the “Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes” was opened along the Maas to just beyond the town of Sedan. The city is famous for perhaps the largest and most impressive castle in Europe. Look forward to a picturesque final stage after the destination of this unique cycling trip.

In the afternoon, return to Maastricht by coach (your bikes and luggage will be transported with you). Upon arrival in Maastricht (around 5 pm) individual departure or extension.
