Arrival in Cottbus
Individual arrival to Cottbus. The metropolitan city in the Lausitz region is one of Germany’s greenest cities with several parks.
Leaving Cottbus and cycling directly to Burg wich is already located at the edge of the Spree Forest. You should make a side trip to Vetschau on your way to Lübbenau.
Riding next to the spree you will reach Lübben and go further on small paths into the Northern Part of the Spreeforest. Today´s destination is Krausnick or Schlepzig.
Cycle along the Spree dam through fields and past fishing ponds directly back to Lübben.
Starting in Lübben continue through the serene forest and meadows of the biosphere reserve. You may want to take a small detour through Alt Zauche to Straupitz and visit the church conceptualized by the late architect, Schinkel. The linseed oil mill is also a great point of interest. Spend the night in or near Burg.
Today´s excursion will lead to the three different districts of Burg. You will have a wonderful view on the landscape of the Spree forest from the Bismarc Tower. Enjoy your time in the spreeforest thermal springs or make a boat trip on the spree.
Pass the Bismark Tower on your way to the Spree River and follow the course of the river to Cottbus. Take a break in the old fortress city of Peitz, widely known for its carp ponds and local history museum, ‘Hüttenmuseum’. Stay overnight in Cottbus.

The route
The flat grounds and the well signposted bike path make the Spreewald perfectly suitable for cyclist. This tour is easy to cycle, mostly on side roads and country lanes with light-traffic. Perfect for beginners!
