The Weser Cycle Trail follows Germany's Weser River from Hann. Münden to Cuxhaven, passing through historic towns including Bad Karlshafen, Hamelin (home of the Pied Piper), Minden, Bremen, and Bremerhaven. The route runs predominantly on low-traffic roads and traffic-free paths with minimal elevation changes, making it suitable for beginners and families. Highlights include UNESCO World Heritage sites Corvey Castle and Bremen's Roland statue, baroque architecture, half-timbered towns, and wide floodplains leading to the North Sea coast.
The mostly flat Weser Cycle Route follows the river from Hann. Münden through charming villages and towns, many of which are characterized by half-timbered architecture and the Weser Renaissance style. The Weser Cycle Route takes you to the “Lying Baron” Münchhausen, the Pied Piper of Hamelin, and the Town Musicians of Bremen. The monasteries, castles, and churches—such as Verden Cathedral—along your route are breathtakingly beautiful. Many of the old towns you pass through seem, at first and even second glance, as if time has left them completely untouched. The old Hanseatic city of Höxter alone boasts over 160 historic buildings. And so this journey is also a retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life, without having to say goodbye to modern comforts. The natural landscape—with its forests, meadows, floodplains, and marshlands—further reinforces this impression. Finally, Bremen or Cuxhaven welcomes you with a touch of the sea.
