The Loire cycle path takes you from Blois to Chaumont-sur-Loire. The castle here was never a royal residence and is therefore an insider tip. The park in particular is well worth a visit. This stage leads through the vineyards on the slopes above the Loire, into the wine-growing region of Montlouis-sur-Loire and the small town of the same name, which is idyllically situated on the river. The River Cher takes you to Villandry Castle with its famous terraced gardens and ornate vegetable gardens. A few kilometers later, the Loire castle of Langeais and, on the edge of the forest of Chinon, the Sleeping Beauty castle of Ussé beckon.
